Hello quilting friends,

MAINE STATE SHOP HOP ~  EXTENDED APRIL SHOP HOURS
It's here!!  Spring has arrived and it's a great time to get out and tour around Maine, enjoying the diverse and inspirational quilt shops participating in this year's Maine Shop Hop.  The ice is melting from the lakes, streams and brooks are running swiftly, migratory birds are returning, and more touches of green appear every day.  Perhaps you'll enjoy traveling to a part of Maine you've not yet enjoyed.  There are treasures to be found in all corners of our beautiful State!

During April we are open our traditional Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM until 5 PM and will also be open Sundays, 11 AM until 4 PM, except Easter Sunday on April 8th, when we will be closed.  We look forward to welcoming shop hoppers and other customers during these extended April hours.

AUTUMN SPLENDOR ~ A WESTERN MAINE SHOP HOP
Fall foliage season in the Western Mountains of Maine is breath-takingly beautiful!  We invite you to take the opportunity to spend a couple of days enjoying the colors of autumn and visiting nine quilt shops along the way.  Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 27th through Monday, October 8th and come enjoy the autumn splendor of the lakes, mountains, and foothills of Western Maine.

MACHINE QUILTER'S EXPOSITION
MQX East, 2012, in Providence, RI, gets underway with classes on April 11th and then the show opens to the public Thursday through Saturday, April 12th ~ 14th.  This is an awe-inspiring show of quilts by the most talented machine quilters from around the globe.  With loads of vendors to enjoy, MQX is a fun spring getaway.  We are honored that Dan's “Shattered Nine Patch Squared” reversible quilt and Carol's “Starburst Galaxy” were both accepted for exhibition at MQX this year.

TAKE A DAY TRIP TO THREADS GALORE
We welcome visits from Quilt Guilds or groups of quilting friends and are happy to provide you with special “demos”, tours of the Quilt Inn when available, and make your luncheon reservation at a local eatery.  Please contact us to help plan your group's day in Rangeley.

WORLD-WIDE LAUNCH OF “SPOTLIGHT”
We are just thrilled to be the first quilt shop on the planet to stock Deb Tucker's newest quilting tool, “Spotlight”.  The tool creates eleven sizes of this two-fabric patchwork unit with two seam lines radiating from a single corner so that the center triangle resembles a beam of light shining out of the corner.  Accurate piecing of this unit, until now, has been quite challenging.  As with all of Deb's tools, pieces are cut slightly oversized and once sewn, are trimmed to precise units with seams perfectly placed for a crisp sharp point every time.  “Spotlight” units are sure to add sparkle to your quilt block designs!

BARGAINS & BUNDLES GALORE
Our massive spring cleaning and reorganization resulted in many more bolts of fabric being put down on the Bargain Bench in the Show Room.  At $6 per yard, these are great for quilt backings!  Martha's been busy creating Fat Quarter Bundles with new ones being added to the collection each day.  Stop by often for the best selection and save, save, save.

OPEN STUDIO DAYS
As these days have filled so quickly, we've scheduled additional dates during the spring and summer months.  The show and tell is awesome, the camaraderie can't be beat, and enjoying lunch together around the kitchen table makes for a fun and relaxing get away day.
Please join us!

SUMMER CLASS SCHEDULE
In our efforts to become scrap users, instead of scrap savers, we're planning a series of summer classes designed around quilt blocks that are perfect for using your scraps.  All of our classes are suitable for those preferring to work with a limited fabric palette, as well.  We're still finalizing dates and times.  Details will follow soon.

“HUNTER BLUES” QUILT RAFFLE
Several years ago, Mara Novak, owner of Flying Goose Custom Quilting in Chester, VT, and a regular camper at our Fall Quilt Camps organized the campers to create a quilt which would be exhibited at various quilt shows and then given to Dan and Carol to have it raffled, with the proceeds to benefit a cause, of their choosing, in Rangeley.  Campers made Hunter Star quilt blocks in indigo blue and creams.  Mara assembled the quilt (70"x70") and graced it with her stunning machine quilting.  “Hunter Blues” was awarded a Red Ribbon at MQX in the Quilts Among Friends category and a Red Ribbon at Vermont Quilt Festival in the Wall Hanging category.  Dan and Carol have chosen for this quilt to be raffled to benefit the Rangeley Friends of the Arts Student Lesson Program and the RFA Rangeley Lakes Regional School Graduating Senior Scholarship.  Raffle tickets are now available; $20 each; sales limited to 250 tickets.  For ticket purchase by mail, please send a check payable to Rangeley Friends of the Arts with your name, address, and telephone number to Threads Galore, PO Box 219, Rangeley, ME 04970.  Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and we'll mail you your portion of the raffle ticket.  Those in our area may stop by the quilt shop to purchase raffle tickets.

Here's hoping your spring plans include the Maine Shop Hop and that we'll see you soon!

Happy quilting,

Carol, Dan & Martha
