Dear quilting friends,
Just back from our annual March break, we are filled with enthusiasm and energy for the busier seasons of the year at Threads Galore Quilt Shop and our Quilt Inn Retreat Center. Dan & Carol and Martha & John enjoyed visiting their respective daughters in Chesapeake and Richmond, Virginia, and are still smiling with memories of the fun shared with our grandchildren who live “away”.

Dan & Carol enjoyed the Lancaster Quilt Show on their way north. Once home, Dan settled into the final stretch of piecing his 2013 show quilt, while Carol found places to hang all of our recently quilted pieces around the shop. Martha's on a mission to sort/clean/declutter every closet, cupboard, nook and cranny in their home and yes, she's come across a few quilting and knitting projects to add to her “finishing basket”.
We are ready and eager to greet shop hoppers during the month of April and will be open every day.
SHOP HOP HOURS
Monday thru Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM
Sundays, 11 AM - 3:00 PM
Our challenge quilt has been hung and the goodie bags have been prepared. The bargain corner of the showroom is filled with discounted fat quarter bundles, books, and fabrics. Several local eateries will be offering special discounts to Shop Hoppers, whether you are in the mood for a quick coffee break or a relaxed lunch. Our location in the village of Rangeley is just minutes from local restaurants.
A reminder that we are located between Pins & Needles in Farmington and North Woods Quilting in Wilsons Mills, offering beautiful scenery along the way.
FALL QUILT CAMPS UPDATE
Quilt Camp with instructor, Joan Ford, is filling quickly with five spaces currently remaining. Don't delay if you wish to enjoy this fun-filled “Scrap Therapy” weekend! Joan's quilts are on their way to us and will be on display in our showroom, along with her new book, Scraps Plus One! ~ New Patterns to Quilt Through Your Stash with Ease.
Quilt Camp With A Twist offers you a quilting retreat without an instructor. Dan and Carol recently enjoyed a retreat in Vermont, loved the camaraderie and creative inspiration, and recommend this quilt camp weekend for those interested in working on your current quilt, starting a new quilt, or getting the Christmas gift stitching underway. The cozy and comfortable Country Club Inn is just the place to feel relaxed and pampered as you quilt away.
Please contact us if we can help you plan your first Quilt Camp with us, or answer any questions about your return visit.
QUILT INN RETREAT CENTER
The Quilt Inn is just across the driveway from the Quilt Shop and we are always happy to give tours whenever the Inn is not occupied. The studio space and the many quilts are definitely worth seeing if you've got a few minutes while you're here. We are entering the busier time of the year at the Quilt Inn, so please contact us if you'd like help planning your group's stay. Most groups return year after year and we love the creative energy boost we all get from our retreat groups!
OPEN STUDIO ~ SPRING & SUMMER DATES
Open Studio Days are wonderful day-long retreats at the comfortable and spacious Quilt Inn, where quilters work on their own projects, away from the demands of daily life. We bring our own lunches and merrily stitch the day away. Show & tell is always wonderful. It's a great way to meet other quilters and the shop is always open for those attending. Martha and Carol love Open Studio! Stop by or contact us for more details and to sign up for your desired spring and summer dates.

The spring Mystery Class series is up to Step Two and it's great fun to see the variety of fabrics selected by Carol's students. Summer class plans are still being finalized.
- Timeless Treasures Willow Tonal Leaf fabrics are due to arrive any day now. Eighteen bolts with names such as chambray, dill, hyacinth, magenta, moss, orchid, oregano, pumpkin, teal, and turquoise make this array of fabrics useful additions to any quilter's stash.
- Batiks are due to arrive in April and lots of them. Martha and Carol have been working on a plan to best display the expanded collection in the “batik room”.
WHAT IS THE VALUE OF YOUR QUILT?
We found this blog post by Sam Hunter of Hunter's Design Studio: Where Color + Fabric + Thread = Fun in Burbank, California, to be interesting and informative. Sam considers her sewing machine to be “the ultimate power tool” and her favorite color is orange. We thought you might enjoy it too.
Carol and Martha have hung the spring porch quilts for the shop and swapped out the seasonal table runners and door quilts around our homes. Spring is arriving, day by day, and we look forward to greeting you in the shop, on the telephone, or on our web site.
