Dear quilting friends,
Spring is here!! We've freshened up every cupboard, shelf, nook & cranny of the quilt shop and showroom. We even created a brightly-lit, designated area for Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design patterns, tools, and technique sheets, as well as our Studio 180 samples and kits. Dan's nick-named it “Tuckerland”!

STATE OF MAINE QUILT SHOP HOP
We are looking forward to meeting and greeting many shop hoppers from around Maine and New England during the month of April. We absolutely love this year's fabrics! Carol selected several larger scale prints that work beautifully with the Bear Essentials 2 collection ~ and we've showcased some of these in Lemoyne Star table runners, our Galaxy quilt, and a Stand 'N Stow bag. Kits are available too. We'll be offering many in-store specials through the month. Dan will be set up for Studio 180 tool demos in the showroom and we invite you to plan to enjoy a little extra time here and see what these tools can do for your quilt making.
TOOL TIME TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP ~ SATURDAY, APRIL 26th, 10 AM ~ 4 PM
So many of you have requested an opportunity to learn all that your Studio 180 Design tools can do to enhance your quilt block piecing. This is an amazing one day workshop!! Gather your tools, some fabrics to play with, and spend the day with Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor, Dan. You'll go home wondering how you ever quilted without these amazing tools. We carry the complete line of Deb Tucker/Studio 180's tools in our shop and use them daily. Sign up soon!
TOOL TIME SAMPLER ~ A THREE PART SERIES CLASS
Create an individualized sampler quilt while learning to use several of the Studio 180 Design tools. This quilt is on display in our showroom. See our class listing for registration information.
QUILT MAKING ~ HOBBY VERSUS LIVELIHOOD
While many of you enjoy quilt making as a hobby, or even your passion, we depend on quilt making as our livelihood. The quilt shop, our showroom pieces for sale, our website, the Quilt Inn Retreat Center, Fall and Spring Quilt Camps, trunk shows, and classes are each important pieces of our livelihood. These efforts are undertaken so we can heat our home, prepare healthy meals, and take care of our financial responsibilities ~ just as your line of work does for you and your household.
Our business decisions must be in alignment with our intention to “stay the course”, to continue to provide a quilt shop and all that we offer to our customers, students, and quilt campers. Likewise, our instructors are involved in quilt making as their livelihood.
When we put together classes, workshops, and quilt camps, our instructors are hired well in advance and space is always limited. Your deposit and payment guarantee your place will be held for you. When a class, workshop, or quilt camp is filled, we stop seeking participants and focus on other aspects of planning our events. For these reasons, deposits and class fees cannot be refunded unless the event is canceled by us. We always recommend that you check your calendar prior to completing your class registration. We realize that life events happen unexpectedly and our students are always welcome to find a replacement, should attending not be possible.
NEW FABRICS ~ MORE COMING SOON
Our favorite new fabric line is “Gray Matters”, designed by Jacqueline Savage Mcfee for Camelot Fabrics. Gray has become such a popular neutral and in this collection is paired with sunny, buttercup yellow. A large scale floral print in yellow, charcoal, and ivory on gray coordinates well with either gray or yellow “cheerios”, a yellow/gray paisley print, a yellow/gray stripe, or yellow whimsy dots. This collection is fresh and inspiring!
NEW STUDIO 180 DESIGN TOOL & PATTERNS
Dan is recently back from a four day Studio 180 Design Instructors' reunion, where Deb's newest tool and a couple of new patterns were tested. Coming soon are “Northern Neighbours”, a pattern we just love with Deb's latest pieced leaf block, closely resembling the maple leaf found on the Canadian flag; and a pattern, yet to be named, with fun interlocking pointy stars and a flying geese border. The latest tool is Corner Pop and we are huge fans of the prototype already. We'll let you know when these arrive.
- Links ~ in twin or queen sized, is based on the Lemoyne Star block. Scrappy or planned ~ anything works with this design.
- Sea Glass ~ in a versatile 54-1/2” x 63” quilt, would be lovely done in soft pastels, “woodsy” prints, or the gentle tones of naturally created sea glass.
NEW THREADS GALORE PATTERN
Shaded 9 Patch Table Runner is a fun weekend project. Martha stitched up both samples from our 5 inch square charm bins, adding a background and accent fabrics. Whether done in a single colorway, scrappy, or a planned palette, this runner is a relaxing piecing project and would make a wonderful gift.
We look forward to seeing you soon. As always, show & tell is welcomed!
