Dear quilting friends,
What a beautiful time of the year in Rangeley! The lakes and ponds are skimmed over with ice and our first snow has fallen, inspiring us to pull out our holiday and winter porch quilts, table runners and tree skirts. Carol and Martha never miss a sunrise and the colors across the sky just before dawn have been spectacular. Carol and Dan's daily “sunset” walk, after the flags have been pulled in at the end of another day at the quilt shop, now happens well after the sun has set and night has fallen all around us.
To enjoy our families from near and far, we will be closed ~
Sunday through Tuesday, December 23, 24, and 25
Saturday through Tuesday, December 29, 30, 31, and January 1
GIFT CERTIFICATES ~ 10% OFF!
Until 5 PM on Saturday, December 22nd, we are offering our $50 gift certificates for $45, which is a savings of 10%. As a gift OR for yourself, this is a great deal and can be used for anything in the shop or on our website. Drop a hint to Santa by filling in your Wish List at the shop and then leaving it with us, or subtly place it on Santa's favorite chair or next to a mug of his favorite warm drink.
CABIN FEVER RELIEVER ~ SIGN UP NOW
Cure your 2013 Cabin Fever with a mini quilt camp at our cozy and comfortable Quilt Inn. “Galaxy” is our theme this year and the project is offered in 3 sizes ~~ 42” x 54”, 63” x 81”, and 84” x 108”. The best part of this quilt is that you don't piece more units for the larger sizes, you just piece larger units to create the secondary circular pattern of this fun to piece quilt. We are half full now, so you'll want to sign up soon to reserve your place in this fun weekend. Lodging is available. Please contact us for further information.
Our favorite new fabric collection features the best nature has to offer while traveling by trail along the Canadian border. At the Trail's End, deep in the forest, you may spot a moose or a bear. The color is a feast for the eyes; colors so rich you feel you can reach out and touch them. These thoughts were the inspiration for this fabric line. Rich warm browns and walnuts, clay and carmel highlights, plus all the wonderful greens from nature's palette come together in this celebration of nature. The leaf prints feature the most majestic oak leaves we've seen, as well as our beloved maple leaves. The moose and bear prints are realistic and of a nice scale for use in your table runners and quilts.
OPEN STUDIO DAYS ~ WINTER PLANS
The Fall season of Open Studio Days featured amazing show and tell and our annual holiday potluck lunch. We feasted well! Quilting camaraderie, inspiration, and friendship in a beautiful setting. Often we are joined by out-of-towners who carpool up for a day of quilting. We learn so much from each other and it's great fun.
Our winter dates are:
Monday, January 14, 2013
Monday, February 4, 2013
Please come join us ~ drop by the shop for details and to reserve your place.
WHAT ARE WE STITCHING???
Dan's 2013 show quilt top has been designed, redesigned and pieced. It was first revealed at the Open Studio holiday party earlier this week. Will he design a pieced backing for it, creating a reversible quilt? Or, will he jump right into piecing a WOW quilt that's been dancing around in his head, requiring a bazillion tiny pieces? Perhaps the Christmas quilts must come next …..... 'tis the season.
Carol went through her UFO closet ~ unfinished objects ~ or in her case, UQT ~ unquilted tops. She's made her list, checked it twice, and has already quilted #6 (out of 35!) on the “Git R Done List”. We are ALL thankful that bindings for most of these quilts are all prepared and carefully labeled in the binding drawer when she's ready for them. Carol's weekly visits to her Mom on Green Pond usually find her packing a quilt and the hand sewing kit to work on turning a binding while there.
Martha's worked her way through samples for most of Deb Tucker's Technique Sheets and her definite favorites are the Shaded 4 Patch, from which she made a scrappy blue and white table runner, and the Split Rects for which she designed a star block. Fun! Martha's current shop sample project is Victorious, a Deb Tucker Studio 180 Design. A soft black print, a beautiful sage green print and a light neutral feel like the perfect palette for this time of year. This project is piecing fun at it's finest!
A YEAR-END THANK YOU!!
A warm thanks to all of you ~ our shop customers, our online shoppers, our Quilt Campers, our Quilt Inn-ers, our April Shop Hoppers, our Autumn Splendor Shop Hoppers, and our Small Business Saturday visitors. We truly enjoy seeing you all and being part of your quilting adventures. This year found more male quilters finding their way to Threads Galore ~ a trend we expect to continue into the New Year. It's been a wonderful year, thanks to all of you!
May this holiday season bring peace to your hearts, special times shared with family and friends, and the opportunity to enjoy nature's splendor in the Earth's time of quietness.
