Threads Galore Quilt Shop & Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center
Dear quilting friends,
We find ourselves enjoying the late afternoon daylight, surrounding us until 5 PM now, and noticing that the sun's warmth creates melting icicles, even when the thermometer hovers below freezing. It's that time of year when we busily plan our late winter quilt shop activities and begin to dream of spring.
The Quilt Shop will be closed for our annual winter break from Sunday March 4th until we reopen on Tuesday, March 27th. Our online store is always available to you at www.threadsgalore.com.
FALL QUILT CAMP 2012 INSTRUCTOR SELECTED
We are pleased to announce that Fall Quilt Camp 2012 is again being offered, “with a twist”. Instructor or not ~~ it's your choice. Held at the Country Club Inn, both four day weekend camps include lodging, scrumptious meals and snacks, with gorgeous views of mountains, lakes, and wildlife from the expansive windows of the quilting room.
Brenda Hall, a Certified Judy Niemeyer Method Instructor, will lead students through an exploration of the Niemeyer paper piecing method which simplifies the piecing of beautiful and intricate quilt blocks. Planned for October 11th – 14th, this weekend also includes Brenda's Trunk Show. Students will each select the project of their choice, beginner to advanced.
“With a Twist” Quilt Camp is planned for October 18th – 21st, with no formal instruction. This is a time to gather with friends, make new friends, and enjoy undisturbed quilting as you finish up a special project or design and piece a new quilt.
Fall Quilt Camp registrations are now being taken. Be sure to sign up soon to assure your space in the weekend of your choice!
QUILT CLASSES Cabin Fever Reliever, a mini-quilt camp at our Quilt Inn, February 17th – 19th, is a “two for one” quilt-making opportunity. By piecing the blocks for one quilt, you'll also have the “bonus” blocks for a second quilt. Very limited space available. Contact Carol soon if you are interested.
Triple Expresso Mystery Class is a series of four monthly classes, beginning February 29th. Nobody will know until the final all-day workshop what YOUR quilt will be! Join us for this fun, multi-sized mystery ~~ select three fabrics and you're ready to go. With just a couple of spaces left, you'll want to sign up soon!
Open Studio Dates have been scheduled through August. We've added some Saturday dates as well as our usual Monday dates. Please join us for a day of quilting in the comfortable studio of the Quilt Inn. No formal instruction. Show & Tell is always inspiring. Sign up soon to assure your space on the dates you prefer. These have been filling quickly.
Blank Quilting is a new fabric supplier for us and we're delighted with the collections we've received.
“Honeystone Hill” is a beautiful foliage print, accented with metallic highlights, available in golden straw, deep rich espresso brown, earthy olive green, and jewel-toned emerald.
“Isadora” features large, whimsical, tone on tone flowers in a print you'll love for it's depth and coloration. We've stocked this in cream, hunter green, red, eggplant, maize, black, chocolate and navy.
“Pansy Party” isn't pansies at all, but a gorgeous print of curving leaves and vines. Offered in cream, leaf green, earthy sienna, golden maize, cocoa brown, and soft charcoal, this print will add vitality to your “stash” of tone on tones.
“Dragonfly Magic” is a stunning collection centered around a large scale print of dragonflies with shimmering metallic highlights, in two color ways ,with coordinating smaller prints. The tones of olive green, rich coral, turquoise, cream with blue and grey, ivory with olive and brown, and gold with black make these smaller scale prints versatile additions to many projects. The dragonfly print will be gorgeous in a quilted handbag or tote!
WHAT'S ON OUR TO-DO LISTS THESE DAYS?
Carol and Martha have finalized plans for our shop's quilt for the Maine Shop Hop. The beautiful Hofmann batiks will be a joy to piece and quilt. Dan, Carol, and Martha have each selected their three Mystery Quilt fabrics with quite a bit of changing of minds along the way! Martha's busily cutting up long quarters and long eighths to add to our Bargain Corner. Dan's well along the way with the piecing of his 2012 show quilt. Carol's is still a sketch on the drawing board.
Our greatest pleasure is helping you with your next quilt. As always, we look forward to seeing you soon!
