Dear quilting friends,
Thanks to all who stopped by, sent an email, or gave us a call to celebrate our 16th Anniversary! It was wonderful to see so many of our “summer friends” and make new acquaintances as you dropped by to pick up some bargains during our 16% off sale. A huge thanks, as well, to those who came in to purchase tickets for the Rangeley Friends of the Arts raffle quilt. Watch for “Hunter Blues” on display at upcoming concerts and summer festivals. It only takes one ticket to win!
The lilacs are at peak now, the field
lupine are beginning to bloom ~ and
summer is arriving, day by day. Nature's beauty is abundant in the Rangeley
Region. The loons are calling and it's time to enjoy leisurely walks, invigorating hikes, and stitching on the porch.
If you've never been here during Fall Foliage, please mark your calendar for our Autumn Splendor Shop Hop September 27th ~ October 8th, 2012. We've designed the free quilt pattern and you'll receive one of the fabrics for each of your blocks as your gift from every shop. Martha and Dan are eager to know which of them will be stitching up the sample in order to give Carol ample time to design the original quilting.
MAINE QUILTS 2012
A favorite summer tradition is the July 27th ~ 29th Maine Quilts show at the Augusta Civic Center. Classes, a merchant mall, a featured Quilter of the Year, and a magnificent display of quilts are but a few of the events sponsored by the Pine Tree Quilters Guild. It's well worth the trip.
FALL QUILT CAMP 2012
It's time for campers in the Judy Niemeyer method class to be selecting their Quilt Camp project so Carol can order your pattern. We have instructor Brenda Hall's class sample on display and it's breath-takingly beautiful. Several campers are in the fabric selection stage of their planning and it's fun to see the fabric palettes coming together as each new fabric is added. We have openings in both of our Fall Quilt Camp weekends. Please contact us for additional information or to reserve your place in either camp.
Why take a quilting class? Many quilters are able to spend a day in your studio, or at your kitchen table, stitching up a project or learning a new technique on your own. But what fun is that??? Quilting is far more fun when it is shared. Classes offer helpful hints and creative inspiration from both the instructor(s) and other students. Classes give you a few hours away from ordinary life ~ time shared with friends and a wonderful place to make new quilting friends. Our classes are taught in the ergonomically designed, spacious, air conditioned studio of the Quilt Inn. Your own design wall is at your finger tips. We do our best to offer a variety of summer offerings, always working around scheduled retreat bookings at the Quilt Inn, as well as traditional Rangeley summer events.

- North Star pattern guides you through construction of 3 sizes of blocks using the Spotlight tool, to create a stunning and dynamic quilt. We can picture this done up in fabrics inspired by the colors of the summer night sky.
- Deb has more patterns scheduled for release over the summer and we'll stock them as soon as they become available.
OUR FAVORITE NEW BOOKS
Simple Charm by Kim Diehl for That Patchwork Place is filled with scrappy quilt patterns and Kim's trademark designs of folk-art style applique` over a patchwork background. The Cattywampus Patchwork Pillow is the perfect way to use up your orphan blocks. The table runner on the front cover sure caught Martha's eye.

OUR FAVORITE NEW FABRICS
Garden Gifts by Gil-Jin for P&B arrived before Carol unpacked from her trip to Kansas City Quilt Market. This collection is light-hearted and happy, featuring butterflies and dragonflies, potted plants and flowers, watering cans and bumble bees. In purple, coral, green, blue, and sunshine yellow, the coordinating prints come in stripes, daisies, and a fun larger scale print to complement the beautiful border print.

Saranac Lake by Benartex is our newest addition to the Rangeley/woodsy fabric wall. Evoking memories of a serene lakeside cabin retreat, “Moose River” is a print featuring hunting dogs, feathers, deer, and dragonflies in either natural tonal or multicolor on natural. “Canoe Trial” is a camp and fishing motif print on a background of green, blue, or red.
OUR FAVORITE NEW PATTERNS
Bridget's Bagettes by Atkinson Designs offers 3 sizes of bags, perfect for keeping all of life's treasures right at your fingertips and visible with the use of Quilter's Vinyl. In 3 sizes, these bags are no fuss, no stress to make up. We've made samples of all three and they are the perfect size for your rotary cutter, needles and bobbins, double point knitting needles, cosmetics, loose change, etc. These are definitely on Carol and Martha's holiday stitching lists already! Terry Atkinson's brilliant zipper pull idea alone is worth the price of this pattern.
Baja Traveler by Penny Sturges is what we've yearned for ~~ a bag pattern with inner pockets all the way around, an outer pocket, and a stress-free top zipper installation method to keep all of our belongings in place. A nice size and shape make this a most useful and versatile bag. Ms. Sturges recommends our new Bosal fusible batting to give the bag more stability. This bag would make a beautiful gift. Join us Wednesday, June 27th, 9 AM ‘til 3 PM, for our class to make this fun bag.
Table Charm Two by Whistlepig Creek Productions is designed to make 4 placemats and a table runner from one 2-1/2 inch strip set. We have designer collections as well as Threads Galore strip packs in a variety of fabrics and colors.
The Bear Dump by Boulder Creek Designs features appliquéd bears in many sizes, pieced bear paw blocks, and appliquéd pine trees on a good sized quilt that honors Yellowstone National Park's eight decades of bear dumps which were closed in 1970. We all remember taking our young daughters up to the roadside dump on Route 4 between Rangeley and Oquossoc just before dusk to watch the bears.
Whether you find yourself in the Rangeley Region or in your own “neck of the woods”, we urge you to get out and enjoy the sights, sounds, and fragrances of this glorious season. Perhaps you'll find inspiration for your next quilt in your summer surroundings.
