Don't Miss It!
Happy Leap Year Day!
Today is the day you can begin that large quilt you've been yearning to stitch and “vow” to have it finished by next February 29th.  A four year time frame offers loads of time for piecing, quilting, and putting the final stitches in your binding.  Maybe you'll finish a year or two ahead of schedule!

Our shop will be closed Sunday, March 4th until we reopen Tuesday, March 27th.  Our website  is always open 24/7.

This year's winter break brings joy to our hearts as we hit the road to visit our “southern” daughters and their families in Virginia.  Martha and her husband are eager to meet their new grandson, Henry Patrick Walsh, welcomed to the world early in February.  Dan and Carol's grandkids, Kailey and Jakob, have a new home and are eager to take “Maime” and “Bumpy” to nursery school, the local playground, and even a few soccer practices.

Aside from visiting our families this March, we also plan to totally reorganize our scrap storage system; spring clean and rearrange the quilt shop; expand our bargain fabric area in the showroom; plus numerous quilt projects as well.  It looks to be a busy March break, 2012!

So many of our groups staying at the Quilt Inn Retreat Center have requested workshops and we're currently offering two choices ~ “Rapid Fire Hunter Star” and “Crown Jewels”.  Each of these run from 9 AM until 3 PM, with instructor Carol Perkins.  More workshop options will be coming soon.

It's been fun hearing from so many of our returning quilt campers and new campers, reserving your spots in the weekend of your choice. Both weekends currently have spaces available and you may contact Carol for further information.  We are happy to take your registration by telephone!

The October 11th - 14th weekend with Brenda Hall will feature an inspiring trunk show, step by step teaching demos of the Judy Niemeyer Piecing Method, and NO PRIOR PAPER PIECING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.  We can't wait to hear which project you'll select to work on with Brenda.

The October 18th - 21st weekend “With A Twist” features no formal instruction and is a fun gathering to explore a new technique, continue with a work-in-progress or “blitz” your holiday gifts.

Our winter Cabin Fever Reliever mini quilt camp was fabulous!!  Quilters began arriving Thursday night from Massachusetts, central and northern Maine; the Eustis Ridge gals arrived early Friday morning, along with our Rangeley and Bemis quilters.  The fabric swap added to everyone's Charm Square collections and then a busy first day of stitching got underway.  Carol shared many blocks and projects that can be made with the “combination units” while Dan's kitchen provided yummy soups, sandwiches and freshly baked cookies.  The campers enjoyed dinner out Friday night at a local eatery and the Saturday night pot luck dinner was capped off with Ella's homemade blueberry or raspberry pie, topped with Dan's homemade ice cream.  Fabric + quilting friends + food = FUN!

The list of participating shops has been released, the prizes have been announced, and we invite you to join in the fun of the 2012 State of Maine Shop Hop.  The featured fabrics ~ batiks ~ are truly gorgeous and Carol has just finished the quilting on our shop's quilt, "Bali Crown Jewels".  Martha is busily cutting up hundreds of charm squares to go into the “goodie bags” for each of our shop hoppers.  We're hoping Dan will agree to be our “goodie bag packer” again this year.  Mark your calendars for April 1st.  We look forward to greeting return friends and meeting new hoppers!

We have a couple of spaces left on Monday, March 26th.  Please see our extended schedule so you can reserve your spot on the dates of your choice.

Martha just stitched up the “woodsy” Moose tote from the pattern, “
Northern Lights Trio” by Poorhouse Quilt Designs.  She's got the Maine Black Bear version underway in batiks.  So many of you have asked for patterns for appliquéd moose, bears, and deer and this is the best one we've seen.  The shapes are realistic and can readily be used on a variety of projects.

Carol's Triple Expresso Mystery Class starts this week.  She's spent many a day recently at the quilting machine doing our Shop Hop quilt as well as many smaller projects for the showroom.  Dan's got his Mystery Quilt underway and a huge stack of blocks for his latest design, “John's Quilt”.  Martha's putting together loads of new Fat Quarter Bundles.  These are quite popular with our customers and Quilt Inn gals.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Happy quilting,
Carol, Dan & Martha
