Dear quilting friends ~
16 Years!! How the time has flown by and what wonderful friends we've met through the shop, our Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center and Fall Quilt Camps.  We've loved chatting with our telephone customers and serving our website shoppers.

SHOP HOP
The Maine Shop Hop during the month of April brought lots of new faces to Rangeley and to Threads Galore.  What fun we had giving tours of the Quilt Inn, helping Hoppers with the route to their next stop, and seeing all the wonderful quilted bags being carried.  A huge thanks to all of you who made the trip up the mountain to Rangeley. The winner of our In-Store Drawing ~ a pattern compliments of Bigfork Bay Cotton Company, Aurifil threads and a Threads Galore Quilt Shop Gift Certificate ~ is Cindy Groomes from Livermore Falls!  Congratulations Cindy!   Mark your calendars for the new Autumn Splendor Shop Hop, September 27th through October 8th, 2012.

OFF TO MARKET
Carol heads out soon to
International Quilt Market in Kansas City, MO.  She's traveling, as always, with those fun gals from Country Creations Quilt Shop in Jefferson, ME.  Quilt Market features more than 1,000 vendor booths, selling creativity as much as marketing products.  With dozens of business seminars and Take & Teach classes, it's a wonderful opportunity for networking with shop owners, retailers, and distributors in the quilt and textile industries from all over the world.  While Carol's away, Martha & Dan keep the shop here up and running, as well as hosting a group at the Quilt Inn.  We'll eagerly await Carol's once a day check in to find out what's new and exciting in the quilt world and begin to plan where we'll display all she's put on order in Kansas City.

QUILT INN GROUPS SHOW & TELL
Our guests at the Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center never fail to amaze us with their creativity and generosity.  We love being invited over for “show & tell”.  Immersed in either a weekend or week-long stay, most guests take time for long walks down by the lake and up the hill to enjoy the views.  Amazing quilted bags, wool appliqué, mystery quilts, challenge projects, and charity quilts have been shared with us by our recent spring groups.  Most of our groups return yearly and some come twice a year.  We invite you to plan a retreat with your group or guild ~ you'll be glad you did!

MQX RIBBONS
The Machine Quilter's Expo at Providence, RI, recognized both Dan and Carol's quilts with ribbons.  Dan's “Shattered Nine Patch Squared” was awarded 3rd place in the Edge to Edge, Hand Guided Machine Quilting category.  Carol's “Starburst Galaxy”  received a Kimmy Brunner Faculty Award.

RAFFLE QUILT
Hunter Blues” raffle tickets are selling at the shop and by mail.  Please don't delay in getting your ticket! Only 250 tickets will be sold, raising $5000 for our local Rangeley Friends of the Arts Student Music Lesson Program and the RFA Graduating Senior Scholarship.

SUMMER CLASSES
Scrappy Mountain Majesties” and “Pineapple Blossoms” summer classes are already on the calendar.  Follow the link for our class descriptions and registration information.  Details will follow for additional classes when Carol's back from Quilt Market.
Open Studio Days are also great fun and we'd love to have you join us!

QUILT CAMP
As we get closer to the busy days of summer in Rangeley, don't forget to take a look at our Fall Quilt Camp opportunities.  You'll want to register soon to get a place in the weekend of your choice.

OUR FAVORITE NEW TOOL
The Dritz Travel Iron is compact, heats up quickly, steams well, and has a great handle.  It's perfect for pressing the inside of bags as you make them; ideal for taking to quilt classes; and of course, great for travel.

OUR FAVORITE NEW FABRICS

Cabin Fever”, by Timeless Treasures, is a collection of fabrics with the most realistic leaves and pine cones we've ever stocked.  The three bolts of “Leaf Toile” featuring oak, maple, and birch leaves in chocolate brown, cinnamon, and tan are gorgeous large scale tone on tone prints.  Pine boughs and pine cones on natural are realistic in proportion and color, while the autumnal print of greens, red, orange and gold leaves of beech, maple, oak, poplar, and birch well represent the woods of the Rangeley Region.

P&B's newest offerings in the “Apple Cider” line are beautiful background prints.  Leaves, flowers, polka dots, stars, and swirls ~~ all done in beige or tan on ecru ~~ are sure to be versatile additions to your fabric stash.

May is one of our favorite times of the year.  We dust off the porch furniture, stitch up new pillows for the porch rockers and glider, and pull out our patriotic door quilts and table runners.  The return of our seasonal quilting friends is a highlight and we look forward to seeing many of you at our Memorial Day Weekend 16th Anniversary sale!

Happy quilting,

Carol, Dan & Martha
