April 2017 Newsletter
Dear Quilting Friends,
Well, our “winter break” is over.  Some of the projects on my “to do” list were accomplished, some projects were added and some projects are just going to have to wait.  I did clean out some closets and drawers which means many items have been added to the bargain table.  I also decided I don’t really need 13 sewing machines so am going to sell off a few I can bear to part with, including my 1901 Singer treadle and one of my two Singer Featherweights. They will be displayed on a table in our showroom. Oh, the sewing machines and many of the items I have added to the bargain table are from my personal stash and must be paid for in cash.

We are open every day except Easter Sunday for the month of April as we participate in…..

We are ready to greet previous hoppers and meet new ones during the month of April during the 14th Annual State of Maine Quilt Shop Hop. Granddaughter Kailey and I filled goodie bags, prepared the raffle tickets and printed passports.  Our challenge quilt has been hung and the patterns have been printed!  This years challenge quilt “Memory Lane” is a variation of a quilt we made for my mom whose home is on Memory Lane.  Grab your passport and head out to visit the thirty-five participating shops ~ what a fun way to get out after a long winter!

MQX Quilt Festival New England is next week ~ April 5-8 at The Center of NH/Radisson Hotel in Manchester NH.  Dan’s quilt “Third Time’s The Charm” will be on display along with more than 200 competition quilts from around the world.  MQX is a must-see event!

Join us for a day of quilting fun and friendship ~ no formal instruction, just a day of uninterrupted quilting.  Stop by the shop to sign up!

We are so looking forward to our Spring Quilt Camp at The Rangeley Inn and Tavern!  Twenty-eight (!) quilters from around the country arrive in Rangeley on Wednesday May 3rd for four days of stitching fun with Instructors Michelle Renee Hiatt and Dan Perkins. If you missed out on this amazing weekend, have no fear ~ Fall Quilt Camp with Michelle and Dan still has a few openings!  Click here for more info.

River Journey by Holly Taylor for Moda Fabrics ~ Inspired by their deep love of nature, Holly Taylor has painted images of roaring rivers, kayaks and time spent by the campfire in shades of slate, blue, buckskin, fern and red kayak.
Coming soon ~ Sun Print 2017 by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics.  This year’s 3 designs are Overgrown, Meadow, and Link.  The collection has a lovely array of rainbow colors allowing you to get the perfect color to complement your project.

Lightning ~ A shimmering quilt with three size options that is totally worth the effort! Michelle designed this quilt to have the alternating Lemoynes as Triangles featured between the lightning.  It comes together easily using Studio 180 Design's Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star & Tucker Trimmer III.

Calm Seas ~ Michelle’s design puts a modern spin on the typical Storm at Seas quilt layout.  Pattern includes 2 size options and is created using Studio 180 Design’s Diamond Rects and NEW Large Square Squared ruler.  Calm Seas is also a project choice at our Fall Quilt Camp!

The roads are frost heave-y but we are worth the drive ~ just take your time and enjoy Maine’s beauty.

Hope to see you soon,

Carol & Dan
