Dear Quilting Friends,
In this newsletter we would like to attempt to dispel some of the rumors that have been surfacing. Yes, as we announced to you a couple of weeks ago, we have placed our properties consisting of Threads Galore Quilt Shop and our home as well as Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center on the market to sell. That said, real estate in this area is known to be slow to sell. WE ARE NOT CLOSING either the retreat center or the quilt shop until (or very close) we have a check in hand for the sale. That means business as usual until that time ~ new fabrics were ordered last week and will be arriving soon. Spring and Fall Quilt Camps are not dependent on whether we sell or not. Even without the shop etc. they will continue for the short term ~ that does not mean they will run indefinitely ~ but we are committed to Fall 2017 and Spring and Fall 2018 at least. If attending one of our camps has been on your bucket list then postponing is not an option.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
This has been asked many times in the last few weeks and we have no concrete answer, everything regarding our future depends on WHEN we sell. We have pipe dreams ~ one involving a RV and travel ~ but again, the WHEN is the kicker. If we sell sooner than later, the RV is a strong possibility, but if we sell later we have to seriously consider the investment and the number of years we would have left to enjoy it.
So, our future is up in the air at this point. But what we do know ~ we have worked since we were in high school, have been pretty much self employed and worked hard, REALLY HARD all our lives and always said “we can do that later”. Well, later is here and we are ready to get on with it, whatever “it” is!
WHERE WILL YOU LIVE, WILL YOU STAY IN RANGELEY?
The answer to that one is NO, not at this point anyhow. We will probably move into property that my mom and I own (she is in assisted living) in Oxford, ME while we decide what we are going to do and where we want to be.
WILL YOU STOP QUILTING?
Of course not!! In fact, if we decide to RV we will need one that has room for both of our machines!! We would like to have more time to design and write our own patterns, be able to do some charity quilts etc. ~ things we have never had time for before.
So there you have it, you know what we know. Again, the shop is OPEN as usual. (see July hours below)
