Dear Quilting Friends,
I lost my mom last week. She was 86 years young. She had a lot of health issues throughout the years but always bounced back. This time her kidneys failed. She was strong, stubborn, silly, very competitive and she loved her family and her “log cabin” at Green Pond. She gave us some great memories and many stories to share to keep her memory alive. I miss her.
The name of the quilt in the center picture is “Quadruple Bypass” ~ designed at my mother’s hospital bedside during her cardiac quadruple bypass surgery in 2007, the four Feathered Star blocks represent the four repaired arteries and the pieced Shaded Sawtooth border was inspired by the rhythmic sounds of the cardiac monitor machine.
Our February hours are Thursday thru Saturday 10AM ~ 4 PM OR by appointment. (exception ~ closed Thursday, February 8) Give us a call ~ 207.864.5752 ~ if we’re around we’ll open for you! Just a reminder ~ we are CLOSED during the month of March for our Annual Winter Break.
STATE OF MAINE QUILT SHOP HOP
And because we have had several people ask ~ No, we are not participating in the State of Maine Shop Hop during the month of April. Shop Hop rules prohibit participating if your shop is for sale. The shop will be OPEN, we would love to have you stop in.
SPRING QUILT CAMP 2018 ~ MAY 2 thru 6
FALL QUILT CAMP 2018 ~ OCTOBER 17 thru 21
We invite you to join our four night Spring or Fall getaway ~ undisturbed quilting and socializing with Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor Michelle Renee Hiatt. The historic and charming, beautifully landscaped Rangeley Inn is our venue, nestled on the shore of Haley Pond, and gateway to the lakeside village of Rangeley, Maine.
The large and spacious Kennebago Ballroom will become our classroom/studio for five days. The Rangeley Inn lobby, refined and beautifully furnished, is an inviting place to relax with a book and a glass of wine, or take your turn at the piano. We'll enjoy scrumptious meals in the dining room, enhanced with elegantly high decorative tin ceilings, soothing colors, captivating artwork and delightful views from the picture windows. Relaxing evenings with newfound friends may be enjoyed around the beautiful fireplace in the warm and cozy Rangeley Inn Tavern. Your lodging choices include tastefully appointed historic guest rooms in The Inn or waterfront rooms in the Haley Pond Lodge.
MICHELLE HIATT’S TIMELESS WITH A TWIST
If you are joining us for this year's Spring or Fall Quilt Camp, Michelle will be giving a special presentation on her Timeless with a Twist Quilt Blocks. She will be sharing a bit of history on each one and showcasing her versions. She has asked if you are following along in her series, that you bring your blocks along and we will have a bit of a student show and tell as she goes through the blocks. In fact, Michelle is going to offer a special retreat only block at the retreat for those participating.
To join Michelle's Timeless with a Twist series, you must be a subscriber to her newsletter, and download the instructions weekly as they are released. The patterns are only available for 1 week, as she is using her weekly series to test an upcoming Book. If you've missed a few weeks, don't worry there will be 48 blocks in total and several Sampler setting options. Subscribe at: http://www.sewonthego.net/about.html
Here is a picture of my first four blocks. I KNOW ~ not my colors at all! I think I have a severe case of Spring Fever!
