Dear Quilting Friends,
Happy June! We have been spending quite a bit of time at Green Pond (my mother’s place), cleaning, sorting and trying to decide which projects should be done now and which projects can wait. I have set myself up with a little sewing nook up in the loft where I can see Green Pond looking out the front window and Mud Pond looking out the back. So peaceful.
A bit of Green Pond history ~ my grandmother bought the property in 1934 when my mother was 3 years old. My mother spent all her summers there and she and my Dad were married there in 1952. My dad loved it from the get-go and my parents continued to summer there until the mid 1980’s when they turned it into their year round home. So, of course, I spent all my summers there too. At the old age of 13 I met a boy from up the pond named Danny (who was a pain the butt bratty 13 year old), and as they say, the rest is history. Our daughters spent many weeks with their grandparents enjoying summer at camp and now I am hoping our grandchildren are able do the same.
Threads Galore will continue being open Wed ~ Sat 10am to 4 pm thoughout June and July. We are really enjoying that extra day off!!

The Lady’s Slippers are blooming in abundance at Green Pond this year. A quick google search tells me that pink lady slippers belong to the orchid family and can live to be twenty years old or more. One of our neighbors up the pond has counted 57 of the plants scattered across her property. Here are a couple of pictures, including a rare white one.
