Threads Galore Quilting Services

Dear quilting friends,

November is the season of gratitude and here in Rangeley, it's a time to slow down and reflect on the natural beauty that surrounds us and all the goodness in our lives.  The trees have dropped their leaves now, and the sunlight outlines the silhouettes of every branch and twig.  We love noticing the vacant bird's nests in our daily walks around the village and pause to wonder if the same birds will return next spring, as do the seasonal folks to their camps and cottages.

 Saturday, November 2nd ~ 10 AM until 4 PM

The shop will close an hour early so Carol and Dan can enjoy A Quilter's Gathering.

Two of Dan's quilts were juried into this show.

 Thursday, November 28th ~ Closed

We look forward to sharing Thanksgiving Day with our extended families.

Autumn Splendor Shop Hop was a terrific success with 250 to 300  folks enjoying the seven participating shops.  Here, at Threads Galore, we had a great time visiting with hoppers and appreciate the many who took the time to enjoy Dan's Studio 180 Tool demos and to browse our quilted samples around the shop.  We received 233 completed passports for entry into the overall prize drawings.

Congratulations to the prize winners ~ Susan S from Stow ME, Victoria SP from Naples ME, Crystal W from Farmington Falls ME, Shay P from Oakland ME, Anne C from Canton ME, Halcyon Y from Farmington ME and Ashley H from Cornish ME!

Carol and the six other shop owners have already met to begin planning for 2014.  Mark your calendar for September 23 ~ October 5, 2014!

Fall Quilt Camp blessed us with a stretch of beautiful weather, opportunities for walks on the nearby trail as well as an early morning drive up Quill Hill to enjoy the setting of the full moon and the rising of the sun.  What fun to welcome new and returning campers and instructor, Joan Ford.  Quite a few of the “Stained Glass” quilt tops were pieced to completion before we gathered for the final group photo.

Joan's brand of Scrap Therapy reinforced for us that organizing our scraps will definitely help us to USE our scraps.  Joan's Scrap Therapy method is based on 5 inch, 3-1/2 inch, and 2 inch units.  We know many campers headed home with plans to cut up those leftovers and organize those scraps.  It's such fun to simply pull out some leftovers and begin piecing!!

Jackie Kunkel, of Canton Village Quilt Works, is our instructor for weekend #1, October 16th to 19th, 2014.  Dan Perkins, Certified Studio 180 Design Instructor, is our teacher for weekend #2, October 23rd to  26th, 2014.  Additional information will be available in January.

Doubly Charmed, a Studio 180 Design, is the perfect project for a mini quilt camp and a great antidote to Cabin Fever.  Working from a stack of 88 charm squares, the main fabric pieces for one quilt are cut and the leftovers are used to cut many of the pieces for a second quilt.  It's a fun “two fer” special!  Held at the cozy and comfortable Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center, February 21st to 23rd, 2014, Cabin Fever Reliever's instructor is Dan Perkins.  With only nine spaces available, you will want to sign up soon.

We currently have 1600 “Likes” on our Facebook page!  To express our gratitude to all of our Facebook friends, we will be offering weekly specials on our Facebook page through the end of the year.  If you're not yet a Facebook friend, please go to our page and click on “Like”.  This is a great way to enjoy some savings without even leaving the comfort and warmth of your home!

Carol recently enjoyed a four day quilting retreat in southern Maine with Judy Niemeyer, instructor.  She came home with a quilt top nearly pieced and some great tips and new techniques.  Quilting with friends and new acquaintances is one of our greatest joys.

Dan stays in touch with his Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor colleagues through regular online correspondence as they explore new ideas and teaching plans.  Carol and Martha are quick to go find Dan when we need tips on precision piecing and new ways to use the Studio 180 tools and Technique Sheets.

Martha and Carol love the camaraderie of Open Studio Days at the Quilt Inn and plan to enjoy working on some special holiday gifts November 25th and December 9th.  We'd love for you to join us!

In this quiet time of the year, our hope is that your heart is filled with gratitude for the joys in your life and that your days provide you with time to enjoy quilting.  We are so very thankful for the support that you show us and your kind words.  Quilting is such a joy in our lives and we love sharing it with you.  We wish all of our American readers a very Happy Thanksgiving!

As always, we look forward to assisting you at the shop, in our online store, or by telephone.

Happy quilting,
Carol, Dan & Martha
