November News

Dear quilters,

Yes, we survived
Quilt Camps 2010, both of which were  filled with old and new friends, great ideas, new techniques and tools, loads of creative inspiration, and lots of fun!  Deb Tucker's instructional videos are now posted on Youtube and are a terrific resource as you use and enjoy Tucker Trimmer I, II, & III; Wing Clipper I & II; Rapid Fire Hunter Star – Petite & Large; and Square 2.  Deb's latest tool, The V Block Trimmer has just been debuted at Fall Quilt Market in Houston and we are the first in the nation to have it in stock for purchase here in the shop or by telephone mail order.

Carol and Dan both took time to play around with The V Block Trimmer in creating original designs during Quilt Camp.  The usual pleasures of white-tailed deer feeding on the sloping lawn, energizing walks on the golf course and hiking trail, relaxing massages, and a half day of snow flurries created that special experience our Fall campers have come to know and love.

The October "Groovy Girls" meeting found the kitchen and studio at the
Quilt Inn filled with laughter, friendship, yummy muffins, terrific 'use your zipper' show and tell, and a class based on "Travel".  Carol had stitched up five sizes of the "Travelin' Totes" and we brainstormed many was in which each bag might be used to help us travel smarter.  Carol demo-ed several fast and easy techniques to make our own folded bias tape and fabric handles.  The Clover Bias Tap Maker and two types of Bodkins were demonstrated to thread eleastic into projects and to place fabric ties into cleverly created tote bag casings.  Oohs and aahs were uttered when Carol showed the "Over Easy Applique" method from the book "Fat Quarter
Fonts" by Terry Atkinson.  It's a money saver as no fusible product is required and a wonderful way to embellish your hand-made bags and totes.

We invite you to sign up for the next
Groovy Girls session, Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 when the theme will be "Entertaining".  Carol does a great job at keeping the projects top secret ~ even from Martha!  Surely there will be some "Groovy Girls" ideas used at Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations this year.

The entertaining theme will continue with a one day "
Happy Holidays" class on Saturday, November 20.  All are welcome to stitch up a stunning holiday table topper in three sizes or a gorgeous tree skirt!
