What a beautiful and fun time of the year! Our fall foliage is changing daily with more vivid reds and oranges sparkling amidst the evergreens of the hills. It's the time when we say a fond farewell to our summer quilters and roll out the welcome mat for Rangeley's leaf-peepers and our Fall Quilt Campers.

IT'S TIME FOR FALL QUILT CAMP 2010
While our two quilt camp sessions have been filled for quite awhile, the three of us are busy preparing for Deb Tucker's arrival and Quilt Camp fun. Dan's busily piecing his first night show & tell quilt top – an original design using Deb's latest tools. Carol's wrapping up those “top secret” gift bags, preparing door prizes, tweaking the sewing room layout, and making those final meal arrangements with the Country Club Inn. Martha's written the press releases and is keeping the shop well stocked. Deb will be bringing along the prototypes for her latest tools and we can't wait to try them! We're honored to be official testers for Studio 180's new patterns and tools.
THE QUILT INN ~~ COLORFUL, CREATIVE, INSPIRATIONAL
This is a vibrant and fun time of the year at the Quilt Inn. The September retreat groups are some of the most inspiring quilters! Quilts for the Barbara Bush Center, Mystery projects, new techniques, UFOs, and design challenges galore. They even share homemade goodies with us.
GROOVY GIRLS SEWING CLUB is off to a sensational start. The September meeting, “Bag Ladies” was filled with demos, free pattern ideas, an array of samples, marvelous muffins, and lots of fun. We all left knowing which was “left” and which was “right”, with a free zipper to prove it. Please remember that these are individual sessions ~~ sign up for one or more. AND, Groovy Girls get 20% off all Atkinson Designs pattern and books on our meeting days. “Travel” is the theme for the October 27th meeting. Who knows what Carol has up her sleeve, or in her luggage, for that one??? Join us and find out!!!

The last few dates have booked full ~~ so you'll want to sign up early for the dates you want.

Making bags seems to have taken the quilt world by storm. Martha loves the opportunity to sample ALL the newest bag patterns, while Carol joins in on fabric selections and hand stitching. Our favorite new sample, in autumnal batiks, is the Old Port Carryall by Aunties Two. With a covered cording handle, this simple, yet sophisticated bag features eight glorious pockets and a very comfortable shape.
SANTA'S WORKSHOP GIFT IDEAS
Many of you already have “Santa's Workshop” underway, creating one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends. Handcrafted gifts are simply the best! Our favorites to stitch up for the 2010 holiday season are Stand 'N Stow fold-up bags in 3 sizes. This Atkinson Design pattern is ONLY available at Groovy Girl Club Quilt Shops. We have samples in all sizes – the fold-up technique is ingenious! The perfect set of reusable shopping bags to keep in the car or hang near the back door. Carol and Martha plan to stitch up small sized Cash & Carry bags with Quilters Vinylpockets on one side to hang on the tree; gift cards for our loved ones safely zipped inside; gift tags slid into the vinyl pocket. We're both dedicated to easy and practical holiday gifts.
