Those first few glimpses of autumn color are appearing on the hillsides around Rangeley, inspiring Martha and Carol to select fall prints to stitch up new pillows for the porch rockers and pull out our seasonally inspired mini-quilts and table runners to “dress” the porch for Fall's arrival. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Threads Galore, Autumn Splendor Shop Hoppers, Quilt Inn Retreaters, and Quilt Campers during this beautiful time of year in Rangeley!
LABOR DAY PORCH SALE AND HOLIDAY WEEKEND HOURS
Friday, August 31st, 10 AM until 5 PM
Saturday, September 1st, 10 AM until 5 PM
Sunday, September 2nd, 11 AM until 3 PM
We're pulling out all of our discounted quilts, table runners and quilted bags, as well as miscellaneous notions, patterns, and books for our Labor Day Porch Sale. We will also have discounts on selected fabrics and books in the shop. This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up gifts, or the supplies to create them, at terrific prices.
The owners of the 9 participating quilt shops gathered recently in Bethel to finalize details and plans for this celebration of the season. Many of the shops have completed their Autumn Splendor Quilts and the pattern will be given to all those who visit each of the 9 shops. The scenery as you travel from shop to shop is extraordinary with the mountains, foothills, and lakes surrounded in the splendor of Autumn in Maine. Each shop has special goodies for you and opportunities to win a wide variety of prizes, as well as the leaf fabric for you to piece each of the 9 leaf blocks in your Autumn Splendor quilt. The Shop Hop website has all the details, maps, and information you'll need to make your plans. We hope you'll mark your calendar and join the fun!

DEB TUCKER'S IN THE NEWS
We're thrilled to see Deb Tucker featured in the recent issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine. Deb's quilt, featured on the cover, uses the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool that we have come to love for it's fast, easy, and precise construction of the Lemoyne Star quilt block. Carol recently did a demo of this tool for our Quilt Inn Retreat group and they were instantly making Lemoyne Star blocks in all sizes from 3 inches up pin cushions up to 12 inch quilt blocks. Congratulations Deb!
QUILT INN ~ BOOKING NOW FOR 2013
Many of our Quilt Inn Retreat groups have selected their dates for 2013. Gather your quilting friends together and contact Carol to assure you of the week or weekend of your choice. We offer a 10% discount for first time retreat groups.
RAFFLE QUILT ~ “HUNTER BLUES”
More than half of the 250 raffle tickets for “Hunter Blues” have been spoken for and we invite you to help support the kids of Rangeley with tuition assistance for lessons in instrumental music, voice lessons, dance classes, or studio art instruction. 100% of the proceeds from this raffle go into the student lesson subsidy fund. We have about 100 tickets left at $20 per ticket. Please help us raise $5000 for this worthy cause. We'd love to draw the winning ticket in October when the quilters who cooperatively created “Hunter Blues” will be here for Quilt Camp. Tickets are available at Threads Galore or you may send a check to us, made payable to Rangeley Friends of the Arts, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope and we'll mail the raffle ticket(s) to you.

NEW FABRIC LINE
“Merry Medley” by Sandy Gervais for Moda is a celebration of winter and nature. With two large scale paisley prints on either ebony or berry backgrounds, this collection is subtly elegant. The ebony is a soft black, berry is a cranberry red, and holly green is a deep sage with a hint of olive. Coordinating prints are Winterberries on ivory, ebony, or holly and Pine Branches on ivory, holly, or berry. A soft Scroll Stripe etches holly and berry design elements on an ebony background and we have a mottled solid in berry to round out this collection.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and plan to enjoy the colors of autumn in your quilts and in your travels throughout the season. We look forward to seeing you soon ~ in the store, on the shop hop, over at the Quilt Inn, at one of our Fall Quilt Camps, or online.
