Dear Quilters,

Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush. ~ Doug Larson

Spring is in the air, which means it's time for the State of Maine Quilt Shop Hop!  Enjoy the brighter sun and longer days of April by “hopping” from shop to shop ~ a great way to get out and about after a very long winter!  We look forward to greeting new and returning hoppers and will be open every day (except Easter).

Monday thru Saturday 10 AM ~ 5 PM
Sundays, Noon ~ 4:00 PM
Closed Easter Sunday

Beginning May 1st, we resume our regular shop hours
Tuesday through Saturday, 10AM ~ 4 PM

Our annual March break travels led us from Houlton ME to Chesapeake VA.  We received a warm welcome from the Friends and Needles Guild in Houlton where we presented a Friday evening Trunk Show for about fifty attending guild members.  We followed with a workshop on Saturday featuring Studio 180’s pattern, Doubly Charmed. What fun to see the variety of fabric choices!

We then headed south with a stop at AQS/Lancaster to view the beautiful quilts displayed including our own “Spotlight on the Stars.”  We also had a quick visit with Deb Tucker and met up with other Studio 180 Certified Instructors including Michelle Hiatt, our guest instructor for Spring Quilt Camp occurring later this month. (it’s not too late to sign up!)

From there we made a beeline for our Virginia family in Chesapeake for a few days of fun with Kailey and Jakob ~ we even got a couple of days of warm sunshine!  Back home again in time for Dan to pack up and head to Hamilton NY for a Studio 180 Certified Instructors Reunion.  A busy month!

The next several months are also busy at Quilt Inn Rangeley Retreat Center.  It is always fun to see which project(s) our groups are working on and we immensely enjoy their show & tell.  We look forward to our returning and new groups and encourage you to plan a retreat with your group for a quilting getaway at our comfortable retreat center ~ check our calendar for available dates!

Need a speaker/instructor for your guild meeting?  Book your trunk show/workshop with Dan by contacting him at  He shows a wide array of quilts with time for questions and answers during his 90 minute presentation. Workshops are focused on Studio 180 design tools and techniques and may be half-day, full day or multiple days.

Machine Quilters Exposition, LLC (MQX) is an annual machine quilting show and conference founded by machine quilters, Janet-Lee Santeusanio and Mary Schilke. MQX embraces all machine quilters, regardless of the size or model of machine used to complete the quilting process. Located at the Center of NH/Radisoon Hotel, the show runs from Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11.  A must-see show!

Moose on the Loose by Cheryl Haynes for Benartex ~ the friendly moose in this collection is just too cute for words!  He’s accompanied by woodsy coordinates, in rich autumn colors.

Block Party by Sandy Gervais for Moda ~ Depending on your fabric combinations, this versatile fabric line can read fun and bright with a modern twist, or soft and subdued for traditional quilts.

Wildflowers by Alisse Courter for Camelot ~ Wildflowers is an absolutely stunning collection that encapsulates everything that is delicate and pretty. Wildflowers is the epitome of beautiful and girly, each print decorated in delicate florals and lovely leaf motifs. The color palette is soft and muted corals, chartreuse greens, and creams.

Mixology Coordinates by Camelot ~ the perfect blenders in a variety of colors.

Bendy Bag by Lazy Girl Designs ~ Bendy is perfect for toting sewing gear, cords, goodies and more. Unzips in one motion and stands at attention with a wide mouth for easy access.

We look forward to seeing you soon,

Carol & Dan
