SHOW QUILTSWe are very pleased, and proud, to share that Vermont Quilt Festival honored Dan's quilt, “Spotlight on the Stars” with the prestigious “Founder's Award” and a purple “Superior Award”. “Spotlight” also earned “Best Machine Quilting” for Carol's artistic quilting enhancement of Dan's original pieced design. Dan and Carol's 2014 show quilt, “Lotsa Lemoynes” will soon be on it's way to Augusta where it will hang in the judged division of Maine Quilts. TRUNK SHOWS, DEMOS, WORKSHOPSWe are currently booking Trunk Shows, Studio 180 Demo's and Workshops for your guild or group's upcoming season. Trunk shows feature a wide array of quilts with plenty of time for questions. Carol is available for a vendor's corner. Dan and Carol were recently hosted for an evening by the Chickadee Quilters in Bridgton and the Evergreen Quilters of Southern Maine. We've had excellent response to these programs.
ROW BY ROW EXPERIENCE ~ A SUMMER EVENT
We are looking forward to greeting participants from across the United States, as well as international guests, enjoying this summer's Row By Row Experience. We love our “Rangeley Star” Row!! A cute little quilt was made using our shop's fabric license plate, “Mtn Quilter”. Some folks plan to collect the fabric license plates at each shop they visit to use on the back of their quilts. We have kits available for just our row in autumn colors as well as table runner kits in two colorways.
MAINE SHOP HOP WINNER
Congratulations to Evelyn, the Maine Shop Hop winner of the prize given by Threads Galore. It was fun to meet Evelyn and we hope she'll enjoy the collection of Studio 180 tools and products we put together in her prize.
With summer upon us, we thought it would be fun to kit up two wall quilts, perfect for piecing in small bits of time or during a rainy weekend. Snowflurries features our newest Holly Taylor fabric line, while Crown Jewels shines in batik fabrics. Our kits include the pattern and all fabrics needed for the quilt top and binding.
NEW FABRIC LINES

- Woodland Christmas by Red Rooster comes alive with snowflakes, pine cones, and gorgeous holly in the traditional tones of the season, with metallic highlights. Celebrate winter!
- Harvest Breeze by Red Rooster is a gorgeous autumnal line with realistic rust, green, or goldtone-on-tone leaf prints and a beautiful large-scale, multi-colored autumn print on a rich black background. Perfect for autumn and Thanksgiving!
- Fizz by P&B Fabrics are fun, modern, tonal prints in many colors. These prints bring to mind a lemon spritzer on a hot day; kids jumping into the water to cool off; blowing bubbles on the lawn with a toddler. Effervescent fabrics!

Six free patterns!! Mark your calendar and join the fun ~ September 23 through October 5.TREASURED FAMILY FUNSummer in Rangeley is even more special when our extended families arrive to share time in this beautiful place we are privileged to call 'home'. We all have fun summer plans!Dan and Carol will welcome Vanessa and Lucas, Kailey and Jakob for two weeks of respite from the heat and humidity of Virginia. Favorite activities include playing with Rangeley cousins, Evan and Parker; afternoon walks for an ice cream treat at the Pine Tree Frosty; and enjoying some Rangeley Friends of the Arts performances. Kailey loves to “help” in the quilt shop, while Jakob is always happy for an adult to read his favorite books with him out on the porch. Enjoying family mornings around the kitchen island and being outdoors in our clear mountain air create special memories. The four generation gatherings of Carol's family at her Mom's home on their beloved Green Pond will be even more special with the arrival of Carol's youngest sister and her family from Florida. The new family swim float at the Pond and the patio picnic area will be well enjoyed in between games of ping pong, badminton, and basketball!
- Spring Quilt Camp 2015 inquiries and registrations are coming in from around the country. Abundant learning opportunities with two Studio 180 Certified Instructors, Dan Perkins and Michelle Hiatt, make this an exciting new addition to our Threads Galore calendar.
Betsey and Al, our excellent caretakers for the Quilt Inn Retreat Center, will welcome Betsey's family from the southwest USA and Texas, just in time to enjoy the Independence Day fireworks, barbecues, and family picnics. Al and Betsey's two grandchildren arrive for an extended stay, with lots of activities planned. All will sleep well at night at the Girard home! Later this summer, Al's family arrives for a mini-reunion in Oquossoc. When not quilting, Betsey's baking for the freezer and Al is taste-testing. Delicious homemade goodies will be enjoyed by all!Martha's family gathers late in July on the shore of Rangeley Lake for a week-long reunion/vacation week, hosted by Martha's Mom. Hailing from San Diego to Portland, Maine and from Port Charlotte, Florida to Rangeley, four generations ranging in age from 8 months to 88 years will gather each evening around the dinner table to share a meal and reflect on the day's activities. A drive up Quill Hill will be a new adventure for most, both at sunset and sunrise; as well as paddle boarding, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, golfing, and enjoying the beauty of Rangeley Lake. Yoga on the shore is enjoyed each morning, while the more adventuresome attempt yoga poses and headstands out on the paddle boards. How wonderful that 2 year old grandson, Henry, and his parents only need to travel 2-1/2 hours from their new home in southern Maine, rather than two days in the car from Virginia!Summer is a busy, fun-filled time in Rangeley, with many events and festivals. May your summer be filled with all that is important to you, with some time for quilting to round out your day.As always, our thanks for reading our newsletters. We love hearing from you and look forward to seeing you in the shop or online!Happy quilting.
