The shop is CLOSED for our “winter break” now ~ we will re-open on Tuesday, March 31st. We have a busy month planned and know it is going to fly by way too fast! One of the projects on the list is to clean, re-arrange and organize the shop in preparation of a bustling spring/summer season ~ the State of Maine Quilt Shop Hop, Spring Quilt Camp and back to back bookings at Quilt Inn Rangeley will keep us hopping. Dan has plans to attend MQX Quilt Festival New England and Vermont Quilt Festival AND we need to get everything set for vending at Maine Quilts in July. Phew!

STATE OF MAINE QUILT SHOP HOP We are looking forward to meeting and greeting many shop hoppers from around Maine and New England during the month of April during the Maine Shop Hop. We'll be offering many in-store specials through the month. Dan will be set up for Studio 180 tool demos in the showroom and we invite you to plan to enjoy a little extra time here and see what these tools can do for your quilt making.
The 2015 hop will feature the Tidal Lace fabric collection from Kim Andersson and Windham Fabrics. Our challenge quilt is pieced and quilted utilizing of one of our favorite Studio 180 patterns ~ The Rangeley Star Table Runner.
APRIL QUILT SHOP HOURS During April we are open Monday ~ Saturday, 10 AM until 5 PM and will also be open Sundays, 12:00 noon until 4 PM, except Easter Sunday on April 5th, when we will be closed.
QUILT SHOW NEWS Lotsa Lemoynes began its show circuit at Maine Quilts 2014 and will now be headed to MQX Quilt Festival - New England. Held at the The Center of NH/Radisson Hotel from April 8th ~ 11th, this show features quilts by the most talented machine quilters from around the world and is an event not to be missed!
Spotlight on the Stars, a recent 2nd place winner at Road to California Quilter’s Conference 2015, continues it’s journey at AQS QuiltWeek in Lancaster PA., March 11th through 14th. And.....we just received the following from AQS Paducah:
Paducah, Kentucky, USA – Rangeley area quilters have been selected as semi‐finalists for the 2015 AQS QuiltWeek® – Paducah, Kentucky, April 22‐25, 2015, at the Paducah Expo Center in Paducah, Kentucky.
Dan Perkins and Carol Perkins have been chosen to display the quilt, SPOTLIGHT ON THE STARS, along with 404 others in the annual contest, now in its 31st year. Three quilting authorities will judge this elite group in Paducah, awarding first‐, second‐, and third‐place prizes in 16 categories, along with nine overall awards. Winners will be announced at the 31st AQS Awards Presentation, which takes place at the Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. Cash awards totaling $125,000 will be granted, including $20,000 for the Janome Best of Show; $12,000 for the BERNINA Machine Workmanship; $12,000 for the AQS Hand Workmanship; $12,000 for the APQS Longarm Workmanship; and $5,000 for the Moda Best Wall Quilt. Regardless of how SPOTLIGHT ON THE STARS places in the final judging, all semi‐finalists’ quilts will be displayed at the show, which is expected to draw more than 30,000 people.
AQS Founder and President Meredith Schroeder says, “Whatever type of quilts you enjoy, traditional, modern, fiber art, or miniature, Paducah QuiltWeek® will have them all. The American Quilter’s Society hosts several shows annually, each with its own quilt contest. The many snow storms have made for a very large Mt Bumpa in our yard. Dan and the boys have made the best of the cold and snow by playing on and in the massive pile.
