Threads Galore Quilting Services

Dear quilting friends,
What a fun and colorful Cabin Fever Reliever Weekend was enjoyed with our enthusiastic students! Outdoors, the late winter sunshine was brilliant; indoors, the colors were WOW! Doubly Charmed, indeed, charmed us all.
Our traditional March “break” is feeling pretty busy already! Dan and Carol look forward to some time spent “south”, visiting daughter Vanessa and her family. Playing with the grandkids and long walks without boots and grippers are most inviting.
Dan will have his sewing machine, fabrics, and piecing “homework” with him as he's preparing for the Studio 180 Certified Instructor's Reunion in PA. The instructor's group, while keeping in touch nearly daily via internet, looks forward to testing new Studio 180 Design patterns, sharing teaching experiences, and gleaning all they can from the amazing quilting mind of Deb Tucker.
Martha and John are eagerly awaiting the final week of March when daughter, Megan, and her family move north from Virginia to southern Maine. What fun it will be to have their two year old grandson (and his parents) just a few hours away.
Carol and Martha will enjoy some time visiting their Moms, giving a hand with some early spring chores at each of their homes. Hopefully, we'll all find a few hours to sink into a really good book!
Around the shop, March is the time for spring cleaning and sprucing up our displays ~ changing out fall/winter and readying for spring/summer. Carol and Martha love digging in the closet, choosing the next season's Porch quilts and pillows for the glider. Dan and Carol check email often and our website is always open.
  • TOOL TIME TECHNIQUES TAUGHT TODAY ~ This is a fabulous opportunity!! Bring any/all of your Studio 180 tools and some fabrics and spend Saturday, April 26th in the beautiful studio of our Quilt Inn, learning to use and enjoy these incredible quilting tools. We know so many of you have them ~ and now it's time to actually use them. You'll wonder how you ever quilted without Studio 180 tools!!
  •  TOOL TIME SAMPLER ~ A late May/early June, three session series class, this quilt uses several of the Studio 180 tools. The sky's the limit as you can choose to make as many of each block as you like and even design some original ones as you learn to “Tuckerize” your favorite pieced block units.
Carol is busily processing registrations for both of our Fall Quilt Camp weekends. Quilt Camp with Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quiltworks, October 16th – 19th, has several openings left. There are just a few spaces left in Quilt Camp with Dan, October 23rd – 26th
Fall Quilt Camps are the perfect way to treat yourself to an extended time of uninterrupted quilting at the comfortable and cozy Country Club Inn. Lodging, instruction, meals, snacks, door prizes, and one of the most beautiful views in the Rangeley Region create a once-in-a lifetime experience, or one that you'll look forward to year after year. Please contact Carol for additional information and help in planning your Quilt Camp 2014 experience.

We are excited to announce Spring Quilt Camp 2015 at the historic Rangeley Inn in downtown Rangeley!  We are adding a day, adding an instructor and adding projects and techniques!  More info to come soon.  Save the date ~ April 29 thru May 3, 2015!!

Spring is the busiest time of year at our Quilt Inn Retreat Center and we look forward to the inspiration we get from each of our quilting groups. We are happy to offer tours, in person, when the Inn isn't booked and there are photos on our website so you can begin to get a feel for the spacious comfort of the Inn. The most frequently heard comment is “how can we stay longer next time?”
Maybe this is the year for you and your quilting friends to plan a long weekend, or a week-long get away to the Quilt Inn? Carol is always happy to assist with your group's plans.

We love the fabrics selected for this year's State of Maine Shop Hop! We selected two purples, two turquoises, and a light gray background from the P&B Bear Essentials Collection to piece our Galaxy Quilt. A beautiful large scale floral brings each of the tones out into the border. We can't wait to hang our quilt for all to enjoy during Shop Hop.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to travel around our beautiful state of Maine, experiencing the unique feel of each quilt shop along the way. We so look forward to greeting you during Shop Hop!

Dan is honored to be teaching a Lemoyne Star Table Runner Class at Maine Quilts this July. He's always there during the show, enjoying conversation and answering questions about his quilt(s), and this year, he will take half a day to teach one of his table runner designs, utilizing the Studio 180 Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool.
Dan's 2014 show quilt top has been designed and pieced and Carol will soon begin designing the quilting for it. In the meantime, Dan awaits confirmation from upcoming shows to exhibit his earlier award-winning pieces.
Photocopying and sharing of copyrighted quilt patterns is illegal and robs the owner of the pattern copyright of any income from all the work involved in producing the pattern. Designing the project, selecting and preparing fabrics, piecing and quilting a few samples, writing the pattern, drawing all the diagrams, testing and tech-editing the written pattern, printing/pattern assembly, and the pattern promotional efforts require an extraordinary commitment of time and resources. Please have respect for all those willing to design patterns for the quilt industry.
May these final days of winter and the arrival of spring find your thoughts filled with new quilting ideas and inspiration. We look forward to seeing you soon!
